slicing with Aspire

Post by scottart »

I have put off trying to slice a model with Aspire, but have a few projects that just need depth beyond my Z range, so am taking a test run here.

Started out reviewing Ms Beki's training video on the Apple.... She does a great job.

Than laid out this design.. An owl in a Gnarly olde tree with a snow globe stuck in the tree, I laid it out on a 2 x 4 board 1 inch thick. The model is 4 " thick so will require four layers / slices.

The video and slicing tool worked great, but I can see that taking some time to lay it out to avoid fragile areas on some of the Slices would help. And I should have drilled done this two sided so I could put in dowl pilot holes to make it easier to line up parts.

All in all it is a cool tool. I will post more pictures as I finish this up and paint it.

thanks for looking.

Scott

Nice work Scott. I've played with simple slices, but nothing that big or complicated. Well done.

Thanks for sharing....

Wonderful First Try Scott!!
Can't wait to see it painted...the Teddy Bear "Snowglobe" blew me away :)
Did you do that model? Is it for sale? Or mind telling me where you bought it?
I'm really liking it(minus the "Snowglobe")
Greatly resembles a Great Horned Owl that was sitting on a gnarly old tree in my beaver pond the other day when too dark to take a pic:(
I'd like to take a stab at taking just the Owl, and putting him on a branch from the pond.
LOVE your paint jobs!
Never sliced anything yet either

I've learned my lesson well. You can't please everyone,so you have to please yourself
