Sewer/Manhole Cover (shhh, the secrets is out)

Post by Greasetattoo »

Hey all..
Did this project this past summer.
Pictures say a 1000 words.
My machine can only do 7.25" x 14".

Backstory: I went to do some shirts from a real manhole cover (got about 4 made), and almost got hit by a car, and I was near a bus stop with a bunch of thugs. It was even very early Sunday morning. 7am early...Luckily I was wearing a fluorescent vest and they thought I was a city worker!
Long story short: I decided I could make this on my machine and do it at home.
I sold several shirts, people thinking I did them from a real manhole cover..
Oops, secrets out....

Now, that I am done making the shirts, I will make it, into a framed wall hanging.
Which I plan to enter in the Minnesota State Fair. 2019
Stay tuned!

Enjoy

Very cool idea' A lot easier to hang on a wall, too, if carved from wood, Would make a great plaque for a city museum.

There is some very nice decorative artwork in those man hole covers. I'm saving the links for future salad bowl guitar top panels ....

I'm curious what material and brand, that you used for the stamp, if you don't mind sharing.

Material is the pink foam from my local lumberyard. (Menards)

.125 Ball nose
No Roughing pass.

90 degree Vbit, also.

And I run it pretty fast, it cuts through the foam like butta!

My apologies, I was referring to the stamp material itself. The reddish colored rubber looking material.

Nice Work Grease. I used to have T-shirt business. Did a lot of crazy things but never thought of using the CNC and foam. Thanks for the inspiration.
