end mill carving question

Post by jgstang »

I've been carving with a V but this whole time and desided to try a end mill 1/16.. the tool data base will not read it.. I load an image etc then switch over to the carving side, click choose tool and click new, add the tool and apply click ok and the box comes up invalid.. I have added tools before like a ball nose and v bits to it but for some reason it won't take it, then I thought its because i'm in v carve so I tried to make a tool path with a end mill already in tools in other carving options than v carve but WOW it comes out in a really weard looking path that I can't even tell what the heck it is! is there a simple way to do this like a V bit tool path, I seem to have the v bit down so what am I doing wrong
? thanks for your time. hope this makes sence

An end mill is not a valid tool to use with a V-Carve tool path. You can use end mills with profile and pocket toolpaths.
