Free Project - Autumn Fall Wreath

Post by Stephanie Downing »

Here is a nice Autumn Wreath project to hang on your front door to celebrate relief from the hot summer!

The wreath features Maple leaves and branches/stems arranged on a bark textured surface of the ring base. The leaf, ring and branch models were created using a variety of Aspire’s vector drawing and modelling tools. The design combines 3D relief toolpaths with v-carved Fluting toolpaths projected onto the models to create the leaf vein detail.

The project sample was carved on off-the shelf 0.75 " thick wood, but you can use thicker stock and make the wreath component thicker, if desired. Re-calculate the toolpaths if you make any changes.

I made the mistake of showing my wife..... I'm making at least two. At least she wants to do the painting :D

I really like that Michael Tyler has added videos for his projects. His painting of the projects is fantastic. His processes are so simple that even I can use the techniques to make mine look good. It brings them to a whole new level.

Thanks Michael.....

Thanks, Michael for another fun project!! I just love the details and the V bit for the leaves stems. I carved my wreath out of HDU. This will look great on our front door! Tom Watson

Micheal,

Love your wreath - wife says I have to make her one! What wood did you use?

Hi Paul,

Thank you! Happy to hear you and your wife like it!

I edge-glued a couple clear, kiln-dried 1x10 boards together. Usually referred to as Select Pine at Lowe’s or Home Depot. I buy from my local Lowe’s. The end tag says “Select Pine a product of New Zealand”.

I didn’t even notice until you mentioned it! Besides, I’ve spelled it that way many times myself, so no worries!

Is it possible to get a version of the wreath that will work for 8.5, for those that haven't upgraded? I just can't afford an upgrade at this time.

Hi Samson,

Thank you for your question. That project will only work with version 9.5 (and beyond). As new versions of the software are released, I upgrade/update so I can create each project using the most current version at the time.
