Is their a way to Mirror a 3d file

Post by rjgodboout »

I am ready to cave an image on a double door cabinet. My neighbor would like a left and right leaning bear hugging a girl, STL file.
Is this possible. If so how??? I've only had my machine for a few months and I"m pretty impressed. I've learned to be careful with the software as it can bite you.
Thanks, Bob G

Select the model and use the Mirror Tool on the Model Tab.

The mirror tool is only available for 3D stl in Aspire, not Vcarve. Vcarve will not mirror the stl. Following the one stl in Vcarve rule?

Works ok for me in VCarve. The mirror tool is on the drawing tab not the Modelling tab and will mirror an STL.

You can have as many duplicates of that one STL file in VCarve as you want. Mirrored, resized, rotated, arranged - whatever.

Good to know. I saw that Aspire had a mirror tab in modeling, but Vcarve didn't. I ASSumed that the Vcarve one wouldn't mirror stl. My mistake.

Here's an example of an imported (and duplicated) STL model into VCarve. Piggies galore!

To Mirror QUICKLY:

1) Select the model

2) Press Ctrl+Shift+H to mirror/duplicate horizontally

3) Press Ctrl+Shift+V to mirror/duplicate vertically

(To mirror anything without duplicating - select any item and just press H or V)
