Image Rotated from Cut 2D to my G-Code

Post by ehsmith »

I was setting up a star to engrave for a friend. It was vertical when I composed it in Cut 2D,
but when I ran it in my G-Code, it had rotated about 22 degrees. Anyone else experience this?
Thank you. Thank you.

What post processor did you use?

It would be even better is if you can upload the CRV file and the G-code file.

If they are too large you can put them on Google drive or Drop Box and share the links here.

The files are small. My post processor is KMotion. I've been using it for a few years and this is the first issue. It won't let me add the KMotion file. Thank you.

Any chance that it just cut upside down? An easy test is to type some text and cut that

Got it fixed!! For some reason, all my Vectric files cut 90 degrees different than they show when I program them.... don't know why.
I always have to rotate 90 deg. before I save to G-Code. I forgot to do that with the star, and because of the how the star is...
it looked like it was about 22 deg. off, when it was 90 off. I thought about it as I got to bed last night, got up and rotated it
first thing this morning and it engraved perfectly. Thank you. :D

Vectric software references the horizontal plane as X, and the vertical plane as Y. So when you are drawing something, Y is up/down and X is left/right.

So my guess is that the way the machine is set up or orientated, what you think of being the Y axis on the machine is really the X axis; and vice versa. Which is why it seems like everything gets turned 90º
