Using VC ver 8.5. I'm carving numbers in aluminum channel using "Helvetica 1L". The number 6 is being cut in 3 parts for no apparent good reason, the back, the bottom loop, the top hook, not always in the same order, sometimes the spindle raises and lowers in the same spot. It does the 3 in a similar manner and probably the 9 though I haven't checked that.
It takes extra time, I want it to stop doing that, how do I make it cut a 6 in 1 fluid motion?

The number "6" cuts in three parts for a very good reason. The "6" has three vectors---one for each of the pieces you mentioned.ger.wat wrote:The number 6 is being cut in 3 parts for no apparent good reason, the back, the bottom loop, the top hook...
Easy. Make the "6" into one vector instead of three.ger.wat wrote:It takes extra time, I want it to stop doing that, how do I make it cut a 6 in 1 fluid motion?
Read up on:
- convert text to curves
- join multiple vectors into one

Re: number carving
I would LIKE to make the 6's and 3's one vector. They already seems to be grouped but don't respond to ungroup button. On the first bar I've tried ungrouping, regrouping, converting to curves, doesn't seems to make a difference.
AH! Figured out a way, convert to curves, then close vectors. Geez, is there and easier way?

They aren't grouped. They are text. Select, right click, convert to curves. Use whichever of the join tools you want to join the vectors.
There isn't an "easier" way. Hard to see how there could be to be honest other than the font being one vector in the first place.

Why bother closing the vectors? They work just fine as open ones.ger.wat wrote:convert to curves, then close vectors. Geez, is there and easier way?

He doesn't like the extra time it takes for the bit moving for each open vector when there is more than one number.adze_cnc wrote:Why bother closing the vectors? They work just fine as open ones.ger.wat wrote:convert to curves, then close vectors. Geez, is there and easier way?
