Imported Pdf is all black???
Imported Pdf is all black???
Ok I have V carve pro 8.5. I have this PDF I'm trying to import and when I import it, all it does is give me a complete Gray (Black when selected) PDF file.
It doesn't matter if I Import it Or just Open Existing File. It does the same thing.
I've tried onpening it in other programs and re-saving it again as a PDF but it still doesn't work.
Any idea why this is doing this ?? Never had this problem before with any PDF files.
I'm trying to keep the Ratio 1:1 so I can just cut It from the PDF file.
Thanks

Re: Imported Pdf is all black???
My guess would be that PDF import is intended to bring in vectors rather than bitmap images. The grey box you get is it's interpretation of the airplane plan image in your PDF file.
If you do manage to bring the image into Vcarve you'll need to convert the bitmap to vectors and clean up the resulting vectors. No mean feat as the image is not a very good quality one---even less so when converted to black and white.

The PDF import will bring in vectors and bitmaps so not sure why it's not bringing the bitmap in correctly. As Steven says though there's a lot of work to go from that image to a set of accurate vectors.

Re: Imported Pdf is all black???
Steven is correct, there is no vector data in the pdf it a graphic. I exported the page to png then imported it as a bit map, I then used bitmap trace Black/White option Threshold about 90, max noise and max corner fit.
Sorry the cv, svg and zip files were too large, but here's the results.
I also used Inkscape to convert to vectors. I think it did a much better job in this case.

Re: Imported Pdf is all black???
The PDF import should still be handling it though as it's designed to bring in both vectors and bitmaps.
Re: Imported Pdf is all black???
Thank you all for the info. I thought it would be a quick fix......
I've also been asking on Adobes forums too. It seems to be an issue with Adobe reader.
I to also tried Inkscape but mine didn't look that good. "Highpockets" can you post a pic of your settings in Inkscape ?
and hopw YOU did it. What exactly did you save it as to get the Vectors.

Like I said I've never had a issue like this with PDF files.

You should send that file to support@vectric.com. There is something a bit odd about it since it wouldn't render in my Chrome or Firefox browsers, but it was readable with IE and with Adobe Reader XI. It shows:
Code: Select all
Creator( Adobe Photoshop CS3 Windows)/Producer(Adobe Photoshop for Windows)

Interesting, I didn't know Inkscape could do that! This could come in handy
