Christmas Nativity Scene

Post by John Shorba »

I used two components from design and make and carved in mahogany on cnc shark hd4 extended bed. I finished it with shellac, glaze, and poly. My wife's Christmas present.

Very nice and the glaze brings out a lot of detail. What size is the piece?

Looks great! Did you use a 0.125" BN for the Finish Pass? Almost looks like more detail could be rendered with a 0.0625" BN

But, it's hard to tell from the photo. It is wonderful as it is!

Thanks for the kind words, it is 18" diameter and yes I did use an 1/8" ball nose. I previewed 1/16" and didn't see much difference and the run time was very long as it was so I thought the 1/8" was a good compromise.
