Steamer Chest

Post by Creation in Wood »

My granddaughter Anna ask me to build her a Steamer Chest for her room. I used Aspire 9.0 to design the chest and cut most of it on the CNC. Lot of the work after the CNC was completed on the router table.
Wood White Oak
Finish I burned the White Oak with a touch to highlight the grain than applied a coat of shellac. Stained it with Van Dyke Brown and the finish coat is Conversion Varnish sprayed.
Size 39" L x 22" W x 20" H

Beautiful work. Love the personal touch put on the inside tray. I am sure this will be cherished well received.
I have yet to try any of the flame finish techniques this definitely pushes me towards it.
Thanks for sharing this with us.

Very nice. That was a lot of work. Did you design it from scratch?

Dwayne

Try the flame burn. White Oak is a boring wood. The burning brings the grain out and makes it much more attractive.

Did you use reclaimed hardware, or new?
