I am still around
Hi every one and all
Been a long time but I am still alive and kicking.
Been out of the workshop for a long time, just completely lost my Mojo and started to dislike the Shark a lot.
Just reading and sometimes submitting to CNC groups on FaceBook.
I am now coming out of hibernation and have decided to get a bigger machine, in fact a 4' x 8' machine.
I should be delivered some time in January.
In the meantime I am learning how to use the machine.
You will probably hear more from me from now on.
Cheers
Ms Wolffie

Glad you are back. I was wondering where you have been. What is the manufacture of your new machine?

Re: I am still around
Welcome back Ms Wolffie, and your frustrations are felt by many cnc machine users myself included. I use my DIY wooden machine on the average of 20 hrs/week and often ask myself the question, "Why haven't I upgraded my machine?" And of course the answer is always focused on the financials. I do not use the machine for production work but solely as a hobbyist. I have however made a personal commitment to purchase a metal machine once this one becomes so painfully slow and inaccurate that I can justify the expenditure.Ms Wolffie wrote:Hi every one and all

Re: I am still around
Thank you all.
I have spent a few years waiting on a hip and knee replacement, seriously, the pain was too bad to get out of bed.
Last week my doctor finally agreed that all that pain was not just due to my arthritis but to transferred nerve pain.
She doubled my pain medication and since Saturday I have been able to walk without limping and twisting my back.
The bonus was a fresh outlook and wishing to create again.
I am still taking it easy but have started making some models, ready to cut on the new machine.
The new machine comes from Signstech in China, I simply cannot afford to buy an Australian built machine and I know of several people who have already bought this one. Thanks again for your warm words

Re: I am still around
Good to hear you are back at it
Think you are the same as a lot of other people who would like to be able to buy from a supplier in their own Country but the price difference is just so high that it becomes almost impossible. There are a lot of bad Chinese machines knocking about which tends to put people off but there are also some excellent machines & if you have done your homework correctly then you won't be sorry when it eventually arrives
Leo has been very happy with his purchase from what I have read so far
Looking forward to reading more from you as your new journey commences

Good to hear from you, Wolffie. Myself, I am thankful that the health sciences have advanced to where they can fix many of our problems. Not perfectly, but close enough.

Not all done on the Shark aye?
How is your back doing?
I have learnt that I have 4 pinched nerves in my lower back but, as long as they can control it with pain relied, they won't do anything about it, the risk is too great.
I am soo looking forward now to get back in the shed, although the new machine is far too big to get in there, it will have to live on the back deck.
It is all covered in and right between the house and the shed, with room for the twin bag sucker as well, so no problem.
Cheers
Yes Martin,
I have done my homework this time.
I have to admit that I have learnt so much from my little Shark though.
Money was not all wasted.
The new machine runs on NcStudio so I will have to learn a new operating system.
I never got the hang on Mach3 so hopefully this will suit my brains better.
It is so sad that including freight, import duties and broker it is still about half the price of a similar machine built here.
I have heard that this company has amazing after sales service and, after the emails between me and their CEO, I tend to believe that.
Cheers
Leo
What system does your machine run on?
Looks like the Origin NcStudio is a Chinese program.
Cheers

Re: I am still around
Nice to see you posting again, Ms Wolfie. Sorry to hear of your medical ailments, I have screws and bone grafts in my spine and I know what pain you are having. I bought a 4' x4' CNC, built to my design. It is Chinese but over two years has been trouble free. It runs straight off Aspire and is a hand pendent operation. I should have made it 4 axis with the ability to clamp vertically through the bed for dovetails and end grain machining. Too late now. I am in S.E. Queensland, not many Aussie contributers.
Looking foreward to seeing more of your work.
Best regards, Mac.
