Post by Oldmanofgf »

What size and what brand or type of digiitalizer tablet is best for modeling in Aspire. As I have hand problems making some of the modeling task hard for me to do with the mouse
Thank for any help

I use Wacom tablets (both are Intuos 3 models...one is big and one is small - I like the small one MUCH better - takes up less room and is less tiring to arm movement). I don't know what the current models are that are equal to the older Intuos models. The Bamboo is a less expensive version - not sure if that would be good enough or not. I typically don't go for the lowest cost - quality is always my first consideration. Price comes after that.

Hello Glenn. I bought a Wacom "Intuos Art" tablet maybe 18 months ago. At the time, I asked around and found this to be highly recommended. I have however only used it a little bit so far, and have really just kept using my mouse. Mostly I didn't want to take the time to learn how to use it......... :( But again, I did read a lot about these things and felt that it was the best tablet to have for the time I do more detailed free hand vector creation. Michael, from the little that I have read about using a tablet with Aspire it would seem that it is limited in what it can do, could you go into a bit more detail about what you use your tablet for & the sort of thing it will & won't do

I have a very old wacom tablet that now doesn't work unfortunately, I use to use it with the signmaking software I was running at the time, would consider buying another tablet but would like to know it's limitations before I look in any more detail

Just bought an Asus with touchscreen and use Bamboo pen to sculpt with. Works really well. Now I just have to learn how to sculpt better, can't blame it on the equipment anymore.

Here's a short video I did upon request by Michael on how the Bamboo pen worked with my Asus.

Don't expect anything spectacular, that's not what the video was meant for....

ASUS Q524UQ BI7T20 notebook

It's a 2 in 1 laptop, meaning it works a a laptop and the screen flips over and works like a tablet.

It's a Bamboo Ink pen, it hooks up to your laptop via Bluetooth and it's battery powered so there are no wires.

I am afraid that I had to give up halfway through.
I turned the speakers of because they were distracting me, then I was afraid that I had missed something and turned them on again.
Watching the screen intently I missed what you were doing with the buttons.
A narrative would have been nice.
I still do not have a clue what you did.
I have the same laptop and you have inspired me to experiment a bit.
So at least you achieved something.

Yea the music is a bit much, but silence would have been worse. This wasn't meant to be a tutorial on sculpting, Michael and couple others had asked how responsive the Bamboo Pen with the Asus was, rather than just say it was responsive I created a short video to let them see for them selves.
If you watch to the left you can see changes from Smoothing to other tools and the response when using the pen.
If you have the Asus laptop the Bamboo Ink Pen is a great deal at $68+- if you're interesting in sculpting.
