tappering the curved wall of a bowl on the z axis
tappering the curved wall of a bowl on the z axis
Been away for a while. I have been trying to cut a bowl with curved sides on the z axis.
Can I do this with the pocket to curve the sides on the z axis?
Do I need to use the tapper ?
Thanks

Have you kept current with the most recent versions of the software? (What version are you using?)
Answers can vary depending what version of VCarve you are using.

Would using any of the 3D dome shapes included in your VCarve Pro 9 software clip art do what you want? You can distort/resize as you wish.
Or maybe you can use the Molding Toolpath feature or the Fluting gadget to achieve your tapered sides shape.

Tapering will work. It takes a lot lines.

Can you post a sketch of the shape you are after? The approach to take might depend on the complexity.

I would try the Moulding Toolpath for that. One for each side.

Im very impressed that that bowl can be made with Vcarve pro.
I may try a one side tool path to make a Nut dish.
Very slick.

Vectric Guru, Michael Mezalick showed an example (quite awhile ago) of making a bowl/dish using the Molding Toolpath feature. Here is the link...
