Celtic Knot Model Problem
Hi there, first time back working with Aspire after a long illness and trying to make a 3D component of a Celtic knot from a set of vectors. I had thought I would be able to use the "Create Shape" tool but no luck so far. Attached the file and hoping someone can give me a pointer. Just looking for a rounded shape following the vectors as drawn with the over and under pattern. Thanks in advance!

Re: Celtic Knot Model Problem
If you want the "Over and Under" look you'll need to use the Extrude and Weave tool..
Unfortunately that means you'll need to draw a single vector between the ones you already have.
Maybe the Offset vector tool can also help.

Thanks, will take a look at that tool. If I could get a component without the over and under, maybe I could use the sculpting tools to get the look?

Evidently some problems are more KNOTTY than others. . . . .

Re: Celtic Knot Model Problem
If you draw the vectors yourself, it's just one circle, four half circles, and a square and then the extrude and weave tool applied. I put each of the vector sets on different layers for illustration.

Will take a look at your file. I did draw the vectors myself but having trouble getting the right result with the weave tool, will figure it out. This one is a bit Knotty.

Re: Celtic Knot Model Problem
In addition, the extrude and weave tool has a default setting of 70/30 weave. That is easily adjusted for a stronger or weaker woven "look". Weaving, or not weaving is a single click on one box. I went nuts with weaves right after this tool was added to Aspire, and it's still my favorite tool.

Re: Celtic Knot Model Problem
Good progress on the knot this morning. Going to use it as part of a sign for a house that a friend of ours wants to display. Attached is the first preview, will be adding a border or something to enhance it a bit, the recipient is still thinking through whether they want a solid wood version (with letters highlighted) or a painted version. Will probably cut a sample in 1" insulation foam that could be painted. Thanks to all for the help!
