Followup on Guitar Bodies

Post by fredfow3 »

So, my Shapeoko XL is finally being used for somthing useful. Guitar prototypes for a kids charity promoting music appreciation and learning. We are planning to make variations of these for distribution all across the US and Canada. All the pieces will be made out of 100% recycled and re-purposed wood and materials. The humble Shapeoko XL is doing all the work now, but will move to production machines when we get approval. I'm looking for 4x4 and 4x8 machines with quick change tooling now.

Fun learning curve with V-Carve Pro… I must Aspire ;-)

Looking good!!!
I like the idea of using re-purposed wood.

Looking forward to updates as things progress.

Love that poster, and the idea. It kinda pulls together some of my passions. Woodworking, that's a given!
And helping young people get acquainted with the arts, specifically music. Too many really good programs
in schools across our nation getting cut. Noble cause indeed.

Thanks! We are very excited about our new venture. I know it has been done before, but are trying to be as fully sustainable as possible. We are using solar power to run the shop, finding teardown houses to get our wood from, and using zero voc finishes and processes for the instruments. It's all very exciting.

Cheers,

Fred & Patiño
