So I made my first attempt with some carving with vcarve tonight. When the final cut with a 1/8 ball nose it make some noticeable tooling marks in the sign which is a pocket (using from D&M mom's garden).
So what the best way to get these tooling marks out?
Do folks using corian to carve for this reason or do they more do v-carve letter and a outer pocket.
I like the look but think it was be very difficult to get the tooling marks sanded out of the corian.
Thanks in advance.

What stepover did you have defined for the ball nose? Assuming the machine is properly aligned etc you need a stepover of about 8% for the best finish with a tool like that.

I am using a 8% step over. Same I been using with hard woods with no issue. Only seen with this on the Corian.

What sort of marks are you seeing? All over the bottom or just at certain points?

I don't know what your "tooling marks" look like, so it is difficult to determine what the cause is.
I think, very often that many machine operators are not aware of or how to "tram" the spindle to be "perpendicular" in two directions to the table top. This condition will cause tooling marks in the bottom face of a pocket and be very difficult to "sand out".
Not knowing your issue, I cannot be sure, but this is a common issue.

Re: Corian with Vcarving
Corian is among the best of materials for shaping, no reason at all it should be leaving marks.
Not any info given to diagnose, maybe for curiosities sake try the same thing in wood or mdf and see if anything changes.
[1st attempts at anything are well known to often leave alot to be desired]

When I carve from Ash I don't get the marks.
I think I change to a new bit, maybe it becoming dull?
