Thanksgiving wreath slows down

Post by auga »

I have cut many many to my CNC with no issues.

So I using the thanksgiving wreath to cut out to tinyg (MM). I was about 280mm X 280mm in size.
rough cut with no issues. The final has about 500,000 lines of gcode. It starts at about 20 minutes in it nearly
stops. Only moving about 2 mm every 5 minutes. So I killed the process.

Then made a smaller test of about 175 mm X 175mm.
The rough cuts fine.
cuts fine about 45% of the way. Has about 240,000 lines of gcode.
At about 105,000 lines in nearly stops. Takes 5 minutes or so to move 2 or 5mm.

Any thoughts?

Memory buffering issues perhaps?

I concur with Adrian, sounds like a memory buffer issue on your computer or control program. Which gcode sending program are you running? If you are using Chilipepper, it has a 5MB limit which forced me into other programs. For a sending program, I recommend Intelli-Gcode from Software Redefined.

I using Universal Gcode Sender on Linux on the Raspberry PI 3. Unfortunately the Intelli-Gcode looks like its GRBL only.

I sent some larger gcode files at 125 - 200K with no issues. Never had a memory buffer issue.. Not that it could not be a memory
issue.
