pure black and white...

Post by zaxis »

Will PhotoVcarve convert images to a pure black and white image so the edges can be traced in Vcarve or is it only in grey scale? I want to cut images similar to line art, where just outlines and some detail is cut with a vbit.

I use the free program Paint.net to convert files to black and white. You have to Google "download paint.net" to find it, as the web site http://www.paint.net is owned by a paint store.

Other programs can do it too. Look for a Contrast function.

Mike,

Thanks for Paint.net!!! I have struggled with a paint program since loosing my license to Photoshop some time ago. I've tried several including Gimp, just never could find one that was intuitive to me. I think Paint.net is going to do the trick!

If your license to photoshop was registered you would be in their system
You can call them and they will usually help reinstate your program.

Thanks Dale,

Tried that, no joy. I have/had a very old copy, about 15 years old. About the time Adobe went to subscription based services my registration quit work and I was told they didn't support that old version anymore. Probably for the best, I'm sure it was going to stop working with one of the Windows upgrades at some point anyway. I don't use enough of the features to warrant the expense of Photoshop either.
