Aspire stop inheriting shape

Post by miowera »

Hi fellow aspirers

I have a dome shape coming up from my Z plane. Easy!

Now I need to put a circular tube shape into the centre sticking up above the apex of the dome (think igloo dome with central chimney pipe)

When I create a component (aka chimney) using a circle it works except the top of the "chimney tube" inherits the curve of the dome. ie the chimney extrudes ok, but I can't seem to get a flat top on it.

Any chimney gurus out there come across this?

T.I.A.

Change the combine mode of the chimney from add to merge high.

Thanks for your reply.

I am on Aspire 8.5 ~ there is no "merge high" option that I can see. (doesn't mean it's not there, just that I couldn't find it)

Could you kindly point me to that option?

Cheers

Carl

Further to my earlier reply, I have discovered a change in the newer Aspire version that I wasn't aware of. The "calcs" now seem to flow backwards: ie from bottom to top of the model tree/stack rather than top to bottom.

Kindest regards and thanks for your advice.

Cheers

Carl,
Euan meant to say "Merge".
You would adjust the height of the model either when you create the new component or in that components property.
See attached pictures.
As for the stacking of the components, you are correct.
This was done, on purpose, a few versions ago, so that Aspire would be more inline with other design software that are available.
Photoshop, which I use, stacks their items in that manner.

Would be "combine" high/low I think.
