Triangle Peg Board Puzzle

Post by CarveOne »

My wife likes to play the puzzle at the local Cracker Barrel while waiting to be served. I looked at the rather plain wood block and said "I can make something that looks better than that for you to play at home".

My golf tees look a bit different, the corners and top edges are rounded, and there is a weave pattern on it. I used 2" powder coated deck screws and ground the points flat on a disk sander. The holes are 3/16" diameter and 5/8" deep. I made four blocks in a 16" long piece of red oak scrap.

She likes it a lot. So do three friends that got the other three.

Thanks Michael,

One of the ladies in the local rifle club asked if I would make one for her that is set up for .223 REM dummy rounds. "No problem, just change the holes to 1/4" diameter." :)

Looks good to me & I bet there are loads of other sports/activities that have something you could use as pegs, like you say just a case of scaling the holes to suit

I cut four more today with the 1/4" holes. That is about the largest that can be used on this size peg board. For larger holes the weave shape vector and vector spacings can be modified to make a thinner weave pattern to open up the space in the weave, or just scale the whole design up to a slightly larger size to make room for a larger hole.

I should have a new photo to post sometime late afternoon tomorrow. It will show live cartridges in place only because I"m waiting for a friend to bring the dummy rounds. He will get one of this batch for his help.

I managed to finish this sooner than expected today, so here is the result.

When looking for variants of this game board I found one that looks like a pizza slice. No doubt that we can come up with many more variants than what iis already out there.
