Toolpath Z Depth Summary/List

Post by modoleinad »

Has anyone ever found a way to output the max Z depths of toolpaths in a list format or combine it with other toolpath data in a post processor? I'm aware that you can hover the mouse over a toolpath and get that data but it would be really helpful to have that info automatically generated when posting a file so that mistakes can be caught before running a program. This would be especially helpful when dealing with multiple tools, files and version edits with material thickness updates, etc. If this can't be done via a post processor can it be done with a gadget? If anyone has any ideas on how to accomplish this feat I'd be very appreciative. Thanks

Min and max Z would be available for material, but not the cutfile itself. I can get that info by loading the file into WinCNC's simulator for X, Y Z and rotary, if so equipped. Are you sure your controller wont do the same?

Mach 3 has that info under the "Toolpath" tab.

Very useful and I check it on most cuts.

I was about to suggest just creating a Job Sheet from the Toolpath Menu in the Vectric software. However, the Job Sheet seems to have all the info about the job, bits and toolpaths EXCEPT the tool depth. Perhaps this is an additional list item feature that can be added in future versions of the software.

The Job Sheet printout could be handy right now, though. You could print it out, then manually write in the tool depths for each tool section of the printout.
