Select a closed vector and create and position vector lines

Post by Lou »

Picture attached.

I need to select a closed vector and create and position vector lines perimeters apart.
Is there a an app available or where I can hire and pay someone to write the LUA script?
I don't need the labels or markers just the open vector lines shown in the
last picture.
Thanks,
Lou Arena

Lou, what specific points do you want on the final diagram? They are shown as #1, #2, ...#6, but what identifies there position on the vector?

Do all of the examples look like this, or are the closed vectors random shapes?

Cheers!

As Paul alluded to, there's no way to differentiate point #2 from any of the other points along the curve.

The closed vector shape can be various sizes and shapes.
The #'s 1,2,3,4,5,6 are not points just an example labeling each segment .
The lines created are for markers on a strip of material to line up my bending tool so I can bend and
wrap the material around that shape.
What we do now is open the closed vector shape and get the perimeter from Vcarve and mark each perimeter with a permanent marker on a strip of material (usually 4"wide).
Thanks for the reply,

It would be fairly easy for a gadget to find sharp corners in a vector, and the distance from the start point to the corner could be found as well. The position of 'bend' points along an arc would be tougher to identify, and it would depend on exactly what you needed.

You could create the ladder with full horizontal vectors as rungs going from left to right marking corners (for use with the metal brake), then mark arcs with shorter vectors, perhaps 5 for each curved segment (for use with the bending rollers). Would that work ?

I primarily need the sharp bends but if the arcs can be done in said manner that would be great!
Also for the sharp bends the bender is a 1/2" and would block or delay me from seeing the line.
Could 2 horizontal vectors also be drawn offset 1/4 before and 1/4 after so I can quickly align tool on center line ?

I looked for the software I need it more custom with the offset .25 guidelines and the ability to create on vcarve.

That would be nice for doing channel letters. I always wanted to Mack a CNC bender.
Thanks
