Long Lake Ranch

Post by T.R.MacMunn »

I mentioned signfonts.com in a post on the Vcarve Pro general board.
"Long Lake" is one of the fonts I purchased from there. As Martin I believe said or alluded to, professional signmaker fonts will cause you a lot less grief than others.
"RANCH" is just in Zapf Humanist Ultra, which is one of the very few fonts you can compress vertically & have it still look good.

TR,

I just took another look of admiration at your sign! This time, I zoomed in on the photo and I noticed there is a nice background texture. Did you carve that, or is it some type of background material with a texture already on it? Whichever, it looks great and adds yet another touch of class that you are so well known for.

Michael, it's carved into the Corafoam.
It's a really easy texture ....... .125" tapered ballnose, set to 99% stepover. Cut your pocket at an angle ( this one is 30*) & cut the pocket again at the opposite angle ( in this case -30*.) I usually run it at about .30" depth. If you have small detail, you'll need an offset . I've never done it, but apparently it doesn't look so good with a .25" BN, but I don't know if it was a tapered bit, which would make quite a difference

Well balanced layout, super execution. The texture and the "paint by number" look in the sky/clouds is cool.

Nice Work!
