horse build "penetangore" completed today

Post by stankern »

the horse is done most people have seen the 0-3 parts ,its just the last part that is new
it was a long project but I am happy with it
So from a cardboard lasered model to a 1/4 plywood full size model then to a full size 10.5 hand horse
in wood laminated here she is
Having the 4x8 cnc came in quite handy for the cuts, never used the full bed before

horse part0

horse part1

horse part2

part 3 shaping the horse

part 4 horse completed

Very nice!

In a previous post you mentioned putting it outside. May I ask what finish you are using to protect it from the weather?

yes its going outside for the summer ,I used 2 coats of an oil type primer and 2 coats of a paint that is also an oil type.
When I say oil I mean the oil substitute that they use today.
I did not want to use a water based paint ,and I could not stain as the horse has been patched with bondo and it would have looked bad
The 1/4 plywood model was stained and it looked good because there were no patches ,I would have preferred to stain

Cool, now it needs a colt to keep it company (and give you a new summer job).

That is a clever idea and you don't have to feed the horse. I like it.
Thank You

its funny to suggest an animal companion as I would like a dog but not full time
maybe a dog would be cool beside the horse.
I have noticed the robins like her as they sit on that tree near her head and 2 morning doves are looking at her
well I don't have to see a man about a horse I have one
