Cutting board

Well it slipped my mind that I was going to make something for my grandfathers 80th birthday. My wife reminded me last night, which needed to get done by tomorrow. OOPS! Well, for such a short deadline I think it turned out pretty swell. Made from cherry and finished with mineral oil. Unfortunately it turned out too good so I have to make 2 more for my wife and mother. Feel free to make your own.

Thanks for all the complements. Cherry is probably hands down my favorite wood but I did happen to find a piece of, what i think is mahogany, in my wood pile. So I made a cutting board for my Mother too. I did a different design, which I dont think I like as much but it did turn out good. I shouldve used my 60 degree laser point bit versus the 90 degree, which left a flat bottom. Pretty fun projects that are really easy to do and look good. The font that I used it Palatino Linotype.

Wow, the hits keep on rockin'. OK where is the one that you made for your wife? It is zero dark o'clock here but if I can find a flashlight I might go to the shop to look for a nice piece of birch to make one.

The reason it cut a flat bottom is because you had the flat depth set at .02" like the first one. It remembered the last VCarve setting.
Unchecked the flat depth box and deepest point was about .17"
(60 degree would have been deeper)

One question though is the sequence of the tool paths the order that has to be followed. Should Pocket 1 be third from the end or first??

There is no specific order that I cut them, just happened to generate them in that order. But I do place them in order if I will be saving more than one toolpath at a time. For instance, the final profile of the cutting board, I listed the hole for the handle before the final profile cut. So when it is saved the hole is cut out first then the final profile.
