Longhorn Coat Rack
Longhorn Coat Rack
I thought I would post some pictures of a coat rack I recently did for a friend of mine. Being ranchers, they liked the old west theme and especially the antique railroad spikes I found on Ebay for something different. It is a pretty hefty piece at about 40" wide. Red oak for the panel and maple for the insert. I have mounting holes behind the two outer hooks at 32" to match standard wall stud spacing. Hope you enjoy!

Very nice. The different wood for the long horn gives it great contrast. Also like the simple boarder that follows the profile.

Thanks Mike! The mixed wood for this type of thing is becoming one of my favorites. I really like the look of oak but it does tend to obscure detail so this seems to be a good compromise. Thanks again.

Thanks Cowboy... and to be honest, I don't think the spikes were much more than regular hooks. They came bent, drilled and countersunk and hole spacing was very consistent between them.COWBOY1296 wrote:i like it and what a great idea. never knew you could buy those kind of coat hooks but i do now.
