Pirate Bed

Post by dealguy11 »

This is another in the line of children's theme beds we've been making for a designer. Aspire was used in a number of places on this:

- Cutting out the sides and headboard pieces
- Carving the cupolas on the sides
- Carving the "metal" plates on the front and sides
- Carving the skull (which was a VectorArt 3d model)

The "metal" plates are just 1/2" PVC sheet, carved to shape and then coated with SculptNouveau's metal paints and patinas (I love the way they actually pit like real metal when you add the oxidizer). The skull is poplar, with various stains and paints to achieve the finish we wanted. The cannons are vinyl stickers - I wanted to make them of PVC as well but the designer wanted to go with a little less expense on those.

Would love to. That cannon is a seriously nice piece of work. Sadly, it probably doesn't fit into the designer's vision or floor plan for the room.
