I like to thank everyone for all the nice complements. And I would also like to thank everyone that has posted their own journeys so I and others could learn from them. To date this is the nicest photo carve I have done but I do have several others post in both the general and gallery section with some info on how I did them.

Here is my first try. Just on a scrap piece I had in the garage. Next time I will seal before carving like you said you did, but I wanted to do it and see what happened. I think it turned out OK.

I think it came out great especially if you were trying to achieve an old antique look.
