The Biltong / Beef Jerky cutter
The Biltong / Beef Jerky cutter is an old concept to cut biltong or beef jerky, I design and made this gift for a friend from South Africa how loves his Biltong (Beef Jerky)
I used Aspire 3.5 to cut the design out of Red Oak using a 6 mm end mill cutter then engraved his name and date, sand it down and give it two coats of Marine Varnish.
If this is something of interest to someone please feel free to download the DXF file from (http://www.cncsmartcut.com)

Great concept. I am always intrigued by wooden machines. Good job.

I personally use my teeth to cut beef jerky (has the side effect of leaving some in my mouth), but great job on the project!

Oh yes nice job. I don't smoke cigars but if you added a raiser you would have a pretty cool cigar cutter too.

Or add a wire instead of the blade and make a very precise cheese cutter! Thanks for sharing the files! I don't make jerky but I'm sure the mechanism would be useful for a lot of other things! How about a rubber stamper for the scrapbookers out there?

Great idea Mike. You could make three different attachments and attract even more customers. Nothing like having a little jerky and cheese with my cigar. What about a nut cracker?

You're killing me Jim! (I actually have someone interested in the rubber stamp idea though!) I'll bet you could make a pen press for our turner buddies out there!
Sorry we waylaid your post Buelman! I really did like the idea and the execution a lot and appreciate your generosity with the files - The design is very well thought out! But us old guys need a couple cups of coffee in the morning before we start to behave decent!

No worries, It's good humour and may have a design for the cheese cutter as well soon!

I will be making a few of them I am sure! I have relatives in Wisconsin so I'm thinking the base plate will be in that shape. Great Christmas presents! Came across this site yesterday which is why it was on my mind when I read your post:

Re: The Biltong / Beef Jerky cutter
Funny,
I just downloaded the file because I thought I could rig it to set/glue 6 button shanks at a whack for 3D buttons and be totally repeatable and accurate
Thanks for the file!

How're you going to get some guy to stand over the rig long enough to do the cracking!!!!!!!!!!esteeme1 wrote:Great idea Mike. You could make three different attachments and attract even more customers. Nothing like having a little jerky and cheese with my cigar. What about a nut cracker?
