I am having trouble with my x axis. It is binding and stops. I think is maybe a problem with guide rails. I cut a block of wood to fit between the 2 rails. When I slide it between the 2 rails it seems to get tight in places. how do I go about adjusting them.

Doesn't sound like they are parallel. Look to see how they are fastened. If you are lucky one or both are bolted through slots to allow sliding up or down until parallel with the other.
