Dan,
That is a wonderful carve! Just beautiful!
Can you share with us your technique for preventing the carving from warping over time? Did you carve out a pocket on the back to equalize stress, or use some other method?

Re: 32 hour carving
Mtylerfl, 2 methods I have used " simplest is struts " like bow flex, and .25 bit cuts with the grain across the back and then use epoxy to fill.

Re: 32 hour carving
Thanks, Dan. I've not heard of the slots filled with epoxy method before. Any tips on how deep to cut the slots? I suppose it depends on the depth of the front carve.

Re: 32 hour carving
Nice job. Lately my power company has been blacking out my neighborhood at random times. No way I can run anything important for more than an hour without the power likely blinking out just long enough to screw it up.

Nice!
Did you finish it in one pass or split the frame and picture? The longest I've run continuous was about 14 hrs.

Re: 32 hour carving
Wow, quite beautiful.
What wood did you use? Is it a single piece or joined at the edges? If joined what method did you use. I'd like to do something similar and wondered what material to use to carve it.
Thanks,
Kipp

Re: 32 hour carving
I did 3 all different materials and sizes, ended up cutting time by half. Thank you to all who have looked and commented.
