That's nice. You did this using VCP? How did you get the height dimension? It seems like this would require 3d software or am I missing a very useful tool in VCP?

Not sure how Jim did it, but I did something like this using a fluting tool path and a "V" cutter. Control the height with the depth of cut.Samson wrote:That's nice. You did this using VCP? I used the fluting tool and set the height by the depth of the cut with my V bit.

Jim,
I have tried several different settings and mine wants to cut from the outside to the inside. So mine is concave in the center instead of convex at the center like yours. What am I doing wrong?

Is the start of the vectors at the centre? If not, choose each vector with the node edit tool, pick the node nearest the centre, right click then make it the start node.Samson wrote: I have tried several different settings and mine wants to cut from the outside to the inside. Thanks for the tip Paul, but that didn't change the result. It is still cutting deeper in the center. I will keep trying.

Re: Spiral Medallion for turned box
Samson what Paul said should work for you, but you need to remember to recalculate the tool paths to make the change happen.

Thanks Jim. I believe I have it figured out. You can see my first attempt HERE
I've made several more designs to just test it out and see what can be done. That is a very cool feature!
Do you have any other tricks to share?
