Post by customquint »

Posted a picture of this one already while it was still setting at the shop with Owen looking though it, thought I'd share it now we got it hung up today. I had to wait for a warmer day to do it and we got to 26 degrees today.

That is an extremely nice sign, with the right balance of content and detail/decoration.

That looks really nice.

Just curious... Does your City/Town require sign permits? How about an engineering drawing & stamp for the bracket & installation?

Thanks for posting the finished version,
Chris

Chris,

My city does require permits. However on this one, this sign is considered a secondary sign, it is under 6 sq ft, and accessory to the entrance of the store front, it did not require one how the zoning is written. If I do need a permit from the city, I also need to get a building permit from the county, and that is where the structural comes in to play. My county has never asked to engineered stamp drawings for wall signs, but I do need them for freestanding signs.

I have to have an engineering drawing and permit for any hanging, projecting, or freestanding sign, and I understand that. For a wall mounted sign, no matter the size, the town only requires a permit.

I made and installed a 6" x 20" hanging sign a few years ago... The permit and engineering was $325, and the sign itself was only $150...

It's crazy on some of these projects and makes it hard to sell when permits are so much. I've had a few of these as well where the cost for permits doubles the cost for the project.
