that is a beautiful piece. I like it.

Here is one I did using HDU. I know I could add in lots more in detail such as drop shadows and maybe a crackle finish.
However. I made it with a simple paint scheme. I enjoyed the exercise. On to the next one.

I just found this thread for the Tuscan Grape Clock and I'm going to give it a try.
I do have a question maybe someone can help me with. I see the toolpaths are in inches per second and I have always used inches per minute. Do I simply change the toolpath settings to inches per minute or is there something else I would need to do?
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

You have to change the actual feed, plunge and RPM settings to whatever makes sense for your machine.

You can't just take the existing speeds and convert them as they may be way too fast (or too slow for a fixed RPM) for your machine in the first place.

Also you should check the pass depth for the tool as well to make sure it's within the limits of what your machine can do.

I appreciate the information. When checking the settings I noticed it calls for a 1/8 tapered ball nose bit. I have a 1/8 ball nose but not a tapered. Will my ball nose that is not tapered work or should I go ahead and get a tapered version?

A straight 1/8" ball nose will work fine. They tend to deflect more than the tapered ones if pushed but that's the only real difference for finishing work.

Adrian,

I really appreciate your help. One day I hope to be more knowledgeable with Aspire and the fine points in carving a project.
