1st Try at Firemans Shield

Here's my 1st try at the Firemans Shield... Still gotta work on my sanding but not to bad considering it was cut outta pine.

That really looks good. Very clean cuts, which is tough in pine. Also good finishing job - is that shellac or some other clear sealer?

That does look good. Are the flat looking areas on the shield flat so you can vcarve names into them?

Thanks guys, Its just a spray on poly-stain finish that I rubbed with a greenie weenie to add some depth to the color. I havnt figured out how to carve in the flat areas of the shield yet but I'm working on it. I was actually gonna toss out a question on how to do that with vcarve or cut3D software.

I am not sure if this addresses your question or not. Also i am using aspire 3.5 and cant remember the differance in the software.

There maybe better ways, but the way i did it was to draw a circle that looked as if it were centered in the flat areas. Then I created text on a curved line.

With aspire you can project toolpath onto 3d model. I don't know if that is available with v carve or cut 3d. With vcarve I would find the depth of the banner and start the cut at that depth. not sure on cut 3d

That was what I was going to try it says I can inport vectors from cut3d into vcarve but when I've tried it it doesnt work
