I've had PhotoVCarve for quite a while... just never used it. I was looking at the features of it, and see where it's supposed to do 3D Grayscale Machining with a ball bit. How do I get that to work? I looked at the videos and didn't see anything about it. Am I missing an update, 'cause I don't see anything in the software that says anything about it.
Thanks,
Chris

Dear Chris,
Please consider attached a PDF document that covers an example of how to set up a toolpath for 3D Grayscale machining in PhotoVCarve.
I hope that this helps.
Best regards.

Thanks Adrian and Sara! I see how that works, and now I can experiment.

Sara's writeup (thank you!) should be put into the Technical Archive section (as PaulZ's inlay paper is) for future reference.

Re: 3D Grayscale Machining in PhotoVCarve
That PDF is great but the picture I am using is not in gray scale. So are you saying that converting the picture to greyscale will do the trick?
So then my next question is, How do I convet the picture to greyscale?

Re: 3D Grayscale Machining in PhotoVCarve
Depends on the picture. It's not a technique that will work with a photograph of animal or a human without a great deal of effort but that's true of even Aspire.
