Hi Karen,

You have done a great job with your carving.

In the past I have asked Vectric to consider removing the doorway from the centre off the table, as when the painting was originally painted there was not a doorway there.

I feel it detracts from the carving...otherwise it is a great model.

Reading this reminded me that we have actually done the work to create a version of this model without the part at the front but have just not got around to uploading it to the site. We'll hunt down the file and add it next month. There are many variations, re-works etc. of this artwork so I don't think there is a "correct" version. Just comes down to preference of which one you like best.

I heard the story that the original painting is on a wall that many years later had a doorway cut through it... and this is the lower doorway that shows up in the model...could be true, who knows? In any event...with or without door, very nice work, Karen.

The doorway I am refering to is the part that shows in the middle of the table.
This is a door that is in the wall that the original painting is painted on...This doorway was put in after the painting was already there.

On the subject of 'the door', even though I haven't used it yet I'm considering the space for some v-carving in the future. I've successfully done a particular script font at .25" so I think that space could be utilized. One thing that isn't apparent when viewing the file in Cut3D is the flare on both upper corners. I was a bit puzzled after the rough cut to see both corners left at full depth but pleasantly surprised to watch a rather neat expression of distance and perspective develop with the cut.
Door or not, it's a grand file and this particular one is already spoken for so I'm *really* happy with it.

I have cut that model 2 times now.

I got the model from 3D model club - it looks a little different - I think no panel in the front.

About the window - in Aspire, I am pretty sure that you can do a little modeling and remove it.

WOW - looking at the color picture REALLY makes me want to do it and paint it.

Excellent Job! How long did it take to cut? A friend of mine want me to cut one for his father's Christmas gift using walnut.

Kym - that's exactly what I was considering for the second one.

Robert M - this one took longer than it should have - 43 minutes to rough and 5:15 to finish. I could have cut down some time by changing the depth (I believe now that .30 was too deep) and upping the feed on both the rough and finish. I've since made those changes plus dropped the overall size from 8x16 to 7x14 and have shaved well over an hour off the total time. It's not that I'm in a hurry but we're consistently over 100º this time of year with minimal AC in the shop and I just don't like the heat build-up with a long cut like that.

Leo - no Aspire here so I've gotta work with what I have.
