Generic HPGL Vinyl Cutter Post Processor
Hello.
I recently purchased a Vinyl Cutter which was HPGL compatible however the software and drivers that came with it was rubbish.
So with a point in the right direction from Tony I wrote a post processor which works with the vinyl cutter.
I set up a Generic/Text print driver so that i can use the "output direct to device" from Vcarve.
I Post a copy of the PostP here for others to use at there own risk.
It works a treat for me and I am really chuffed that I can use Vcarve for my vinyl work.
A Big thanks to Tony.
If you use it or change it please post any details back in this thread.
Regards
Bart

Hi Zoltan.
Here is a Quck PDF which shows you how to do it. use at your own risk.
keep in mind your hardware MUST support one of the direct output post processors other wise it's of no use.
Vinyl cutters and plotters mostly support at least HPGL.

This is great. Could you tell me how you setup a General/Text printer driver? I am thinking about using this for my chinese laser to cut different materials, not only on vinyl cutter. Wow...I do not know how to setup the driver...
Thank you,
Zoltan

HPGL Inch Post Processor
Hi All,
Has anyone been able to get a direct PP out put from vcarve to a HPGL or DMLP plotter? Our Community College was going to dump 2 Houston DMP-60 plotters but I wanted to take a shot at converting them to vinyl cutter / engraver for High school students to use. Any info would be helpful.
Aloha
Danny

Thanks so much for investing the time into researching this - creating vinyl cutter files right out of VCarve is exactly what I want to do. In researching this, it apepars that some plotters support HPGL (not many) and some do. Can I ask what model Vinyl Cutter you have?
Thanks,
David

Re: Generic HPGL Vinyl Cutter Post Processor
nearly all upper level cutters use hpgl (hewlet packard graphics language.)
Roland, Anagraph, summa, Graphtec etc.
Many low lever chinese cutters do not. They use revers notation or some other variant of graphics language.
