PVC Louver Panel
Re: PVC Louver Panel
I'm a craft beer brewer. I can brew beer that taste like Bud, Coors, Miller but why would I? Those can be easily be purchased. Once you unlock the full potential of your software, you will be one of the upper tier of CNC'rs.

Hi Sam,
The doors look great! In your other post you mentioned the door halves were laminated together. If you don't mind, what did you use for an adhesive?
Thanks for posting.

Nice louvered panels.
And thanks for the adhesive link. They also carry the hard to find plastic biscuits.

Re: PVC Louver Panel
Looks good. What was the cut time on that panel? Wondering if it would be faster to make a real louvred panel the old fashioned way (maybe using the CNC for the louvre mortises, or pin holes if the louvres opened and closed).

Re: PVC Louver Panel
I'm very impressed you can machine those panels in 14 minutes. You've shown some well designed, clean work.

Absolutely beautiful, sharbold, may I ask where you get your PVC material and is there a "brand" you prefer?
Thanks,
Dave

sharbold wrote:Dave I use both Azek and Versatex but of the two I prefer Versatex. The versatex seems to have a more dense core and the thickness is more precise. Azek I purchase from Parksite Plunkett Webster and the Versatex I purchase from TW Perry. Both companies are located in Baltimore.fretsman68 wrote:Absolutely beautiful, sharbold, may I ask where you get your PVC material and is there a "brand" you prefer?

Re: PVC Louver Panel
When you said 14 minutes, I suspected you must be cutting those on a tapered jig! Most posters on here would simply use a finish toolpath and waste 6 or 7 hours of machine time, without getting those nice clean lines.
What kind of a vacuum are you using? I have an older dental vacuum unit (wet ring) that will pull 60cfm at 22"Hg. I use a 1/2" hose with quick connectors to hook up to my different jigs, and I use 1.5mm natural rubber sandblasting mask as the gasket. I cover the whole surface of my jig with the rubber, then cut out sections of the rubber to act as the plenum (since I'm going for an airtight seal, I don't need a deep plenum because there is virtually no airflow). This gives an airtight seal and I can cut out pieces less then 5cmx5cm with no movement.
