Lithopane

Post by Ernie »

I found some material that had been sitting around for 10 years so I gave it a try. The photo shows a comparison of the artcam handout, a walmart cutting board and the test material. The opaque top layer of the engraving material makes a nice frame around my grandson's face. It was cut with a 0.125 ball mill with a 15% stepover. Cutting time was an hour. I think the tonal range is greater, with more contrast than I get with corian.

Ernie,

Needless to say, Very impressive!

I hate to think of all the machine hours I spent making these things.

Thanks for the nice words.

I used the material for outdoor signs a few years ago and still had some scraps kicking around the shop.
