Hi Don,
It's good to see you are now cutting but you don't need to import the files into VCP to make GCode, though it is very handy to be able to do it.
The software is more than capable of creating GCode on it's own at the click of a button.
The "Roughing Toolpath Save..." / "Finishing Toolpath Save..." buttons should work for you once you check the "visible" boxes and if they don't then maybe the software is corrupt and needs to be reloaded.
Cheers
Peter

Hi Peter
I think what Don is doing is using VCP to output direct to the machine. Something I don’t think 3D machinist does. But I don’t use it so I could be wrong on that.

3D MAchinist does output GCode as I have used it to do this and the first post I made in this thread shows a screen dump from my copy of 3D Machinist.Burchtree wrote:Hi Peter

I don't think he is using VCP to run his machine as he says he is using Mach3.
One day I will save up and buy Cut3D.

Hi Peter
No he can’t run the machine with VCP, but there is an option to send it direct to the control

Re: Only will save as" VectorArt 3D Machinist files (*.v3m)
Thanks to all,
I have G Code up on the Mach 3 monitor now.
I'll be cutting soon as the Sun comes up and I can make noise.
As it turns out that I tryed to send directly to the Mach 3 (the CNC) and not sending to VCarve first...also
I've learned the difference between loading a file vs. importing a file.
I have visited many forms... by-far this is the best.
My regards

Hi Don
I’m glad you can now make chips. However I think you should spend some time studying on how to save toolpaths, how to find and run them with mach 3. You could have ran that without ever bringing it into VCP. It would be good to know even if you never decide to do it that way.
We are here anytime you need more help.
