First Carve

Post by Kym »

Hi Forum,

Have attached my first 3D carve of the free Vector Art bull,... toolpath created in Vector Art 3D Machinist.
Machined in 12mm black Corion,.....Buffed after with steel wool and car polish.

The rough toolpath had 7 tool lifts and the finish toolpath had 18 tool lifts.....I would have thought that there would not be any tool lifts??

The carve had machining error on the lower back of the animal, I think this is where some of the tool lifts were.

Cheers....Kym

I like that. It would be a good technique for car badges. I can just imagine the Ferrari or Porsche logos done like that and mounted on a nice wooden base.

The bull really turned out great! Thanks for posting the picture and details! Do you have something planned for your next project?

Hi Wes,

I am still trying to decide what Vectric program to purchase, my main interest is in 3D carving.

kym there is no doubt cut 3d is a fantastic program and i used it with vcarve for all my needs until aspire was available, yes it is a cost bump and vectric does allow "trade in's" my point is to take a serious look at it!!

Hi Jim,

Thank you, I agree that Aspire would be a good choice. Need to put some more $$ away.

Cheers....Kym
