I recieved the latest VectorArt3D newsletter today and in it was a link to project made with the "Greenman" model.
Here is a link to the youtube video, http://www.youtube.com/user/CarolinaCNC
First off I believe some other software than Aspire was used, nonetheless, a couple of questions came to mind.
In the video they are doing a finish cut (actually it is a rough cut but in principal it is a finish with a 1/4" ballnose) and they
are starting from the outside and cutting toward the centre.
Can Aspire do this? I can only get it to start in the middle and work outwards.
Second question:
They glued a block onto the material to allow the face to stand a bit proud of the surrounding area and yet still used the dished model.
So how would you set the model up so that the nose stood higher than the outer limit of the dish?
I hope my question makes sense.

Re: Qestions re VectorArt3d newsletter example
hello greolt
with an example...
your model 10" dia, 1.5 tall-high...
make a dish 30"dia 1.5 deep, limit it with a vector 20" dia...
and it's ready, aspire will "see" only what is inside in the vector... also if you set the "job size" 12x12 inch, aspire also will show, and "see" for model only the 12x12...
i hope it helps you out...
thanks
viktor
ps
the reason the toolpath goes from inside, because the models, in 99 percent on the outer edge the highest... and sure people don't break their tool on the first model...
as the tool goes toward the outer line it will get load gradually, not immediately 1.5 inch...
might be other program's maker doesn't know this simple thing...

hello
here's a picture, a screenshot, i working on this time... i plan to make some new patters for mantels...
the frame around 3/4 board, and the half sinple inside 1.5 inch tall-high...
so it's only example how the center can be higher like other areas...

Interesting project but afraid it was not created using Aspire.
It's not possible to offset machine from the outside inwards.

Re: Qestions re VectorArt3d newsletter example
hello
somehow i knew inside me, aspire will do it... it's true i got help from cut2d... as i stated cut2d the best for me
first i exported the model contur in dxf, and imported in cut2d, made toolpath, as offset pocketing, save in dxf format
import dxf in aspire,
in node editing set startpoint on another end of toolpath
on the screenshot you can see the green square as the start of vector...
ask conturing from aspire, with "on" option
and aspire made it..
i am not able to save in camtasia, but if someone interesting i send aspire file, with toolpath... to check on this...
thanks
viktor
