As was pointed out to me not everyone knows what Vector Art 3D Machinist is. So here is a brief explanation...
Vector Art 3D Machinist is a software program developed by Vectric for cutting 3D models - it can be downloaded at NO COST from this page: http://www.vectorart3d.com/machinist_free
. It allows the user to import 3D models in the V3M format from the Vector Art 3D Collection - http://www.vectorart3d.com
. You can then scale the size and depth of these models and apply up to 3 types of toolpath to them - Roughing, Finishing and Cutout These toolpaths can then be output directly to your CNC machine if we have a postprocessor which supports your machine (check this page for compatibility - http://www.vectric.com/WebSite/Vectric/ ... pliers.htm
If you own VCarve Pro then you can save the entire V3M Machinist part (including the toolpaths) and import this into VCarve Pro. This allows you to position, rotate or copy the toolpaths and to add additonal geometry and 2D and 2.5D toolpaths to the design to make the complete part.
Please post any questions, problems, suggestions or ideas related to VA3D Machinist on this forum topic.
