3D tool database

Post by lovebugjunkie »

After reading the thread of the Marine emblem with the rope around it, I picked up the files to give it a try.

Want to use a ball nose 1/32 on the finishing pass but when I add a .03125 ball nose to the tools database of 3d Machinist the program defaults it to .0313. Am I doing something wrong or is this the way it works.

Thanks
George

Hi George,
I have not added to the tool database yet but it looks like maybe it is set up to round the decimals off to the nearest 4 place decimal unit going by the numbers you posted. Hence .03125 rounds off to .0313 for 4 a place decimal. It should work OK like that as the difference is very minute. Let us know how it turns out.
Best regards,

Thanks for the reply Wes, I think you are correct, after I made the post I generated the 3D view and it looked good. Waiting for some bits to arrive, will post result when finished. (if I make it that far) :D
