First 3D Part test !

Post by CNCGG »

Thanks for the free machining program. Very nice.

I will be buying some models soon !!

This was cut in corian with a 3/8" ballnose, its all I had. Took about 9 mins.

This 3D can get addicting !!

I have a couple of questions for 3d cutting.

What are the best settings for a 1/8" ballnose as far as stepover?

Can a v-bit be used to get fine details?

Best settings for a 1/8" ball nose for stepover is 10% or 0.0125", I know some people that like to take this down to 8% for a really fine finish. A Vbit is not really suitable as you need such a small stepover to make it smooth that it increases the time significantly. For relatively small work like this you may want to go down to a 1/16" diameter bit to get more detail.

Thanks,
James

When cutting corian what router speed and feed rate are suitable for a 1/8" bit?
