Website problem or virus???
I have tried a number of times to go to www.vectorart3d.com, but every time I am redirected to a website selling AVG SpyWare. Is it just me??

That was just a typo on my post. I still go to the AGV site using your link. I guess I picked up a virus that takes me to a fake AVG site. Oh well...another adventure in paradise.

It might be a good idea to check your hosts file,
(C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts)
There should just be a few # entries,
a line that says 127.0.0.1 localhost and perhaps a line
::1 localhost.
if you see other entries, it could be a sign that you have been hit by a virus.
I hope that this helps.
Mark.

Thanks, Mark, there are some other entries, but they are dated 2002. I have run two different anti-virus programs and discovered/deleted a number of items, but it still does it. It started after I clicked the link to www.vectorart3d.com that was in the newsletter.
Kent, I used to have AVG, but deleted it a couple of months ago.

Howdy all I posted a question on AVG forum about this here is the link
http://freeforum.avg.com/read.php?12,13 ... page=1,sv=
I am still looking for problem . AVG doesn't find a virus and neither Spybot or zonealarm find any spyware.
will keep you posted on what I find out

Neither did SpySweeper, BitDefender or PC Pitstop.
I ran them all and deleted the viruses/malware they found, but I still can't get to VectorArt3D at all. I can type it in, use my shortcut, click on it from Google or use the link above...nothing helps.

I have checked my system with all my tools to include adaware and Hijackthis . I also went thru the registry . I can not find anything . I just did a fresh install of OS on the PC 8 days ago. I am leaning towards
this explanation
Some websites have started redirecting all the "fake" Linkscanner traffic back at AVG websites - as a protest at the load it dumps on their servers. This appears to go one step further and block access to the site altogether if you have the AVG Linkscanner active. The campaign is using the "LinkScannerSucks" tag to identify the reason for the redirect. See [www.avg-watch.org]
I unistalled AVG 8 didn't care for it anyways I went back to 7.5 for now . time to research AV software
LBJ I have zonealarm wipe temp file daily, and I do maunaul wipe to make sure occasionally.
Mark host files are fine, With spybot you get the option to use there blocked list which I do so I went thru it line by line also .
I hope it is server redirect , I could not find way to ask Vectorart3d if this might be the case.
It is strange that I can get to the site with other computers with same setup . But I am now going to remove AVG8 from all PC in my house and the ones I provide support for ie family and friends, better safe then sorry.

Kent,
When did your's start? Mine started when I clicked on the "June's additions" link in the Vector Art 3D News, July 2008. I had been to their site earlier in the day but used my desktop shortcut. As soon as I clicked on that link, I went to AVG. I can not get to the Vector Art 3D site from this compuiter no matter how I try to do it.

When I tried it from my Mac at home I got to the VectorArt3D site.
When I tried this on my work computer (Win XP and IE 6.0) which is behind a formidable corporate firewall and I was redirected to:
