Scaling Issue

Post by Len-Tikular »

I'm having an issue with the Rectangular rope recently purchased. Model 50245

I assumed I could scale it in X & Y to meet with my dimensions but I find that they are 'locked'.
Even if I check or uncheck the lock x & Y it seems to make no difference.
I was attempting 400 in x and 150 in Y.

I'm using Cut 3D 1.025

Any clues James ?

Thanks
George

James, I just tried the same exercise using vector art 3d machinist and found that when I scaled the rope it to my dimensions I got the following result which is not too good.

Hi,
I think that your model is a .stl type object and not a vertor based object(.dxf). Starting with your original model you will have to keep the same aspect ration when you change the size of the model, or you will get funky looking stuff like your image. Hope this helped.

You have to link your width and height together so it comes out uniform.

What will matter is not what you bought but what you built; not what you got, but what you gave

I don't have cut 3d just 3d machinist . I can scale vector art to any size I want with that. Just posted an oval rope pattern and maple leaf sample, and worked great.

If x and y are not linked, as you scale the model up or down the horizontal rope is adjusted with a different scale factor than the vertical rope. So, unless you are willing to cut the model at each corner and play with the different elements to scale the length and then the width, you are stuck with a weird looking model.

Thanks Angie, looks like I'm stuck with it. I have to alter my design to fall in line with the x & Y scaling being equal.
