Are there any good tutorials on painting of the Vector Art 3D birds?
I have a couple of ducks - Heron - Eagle.
I plan on other animals too
BUT - I need to learn how to do - due - justice to the carvings via painting - as live like as possible - at least for an amateur.

Have you tried going to a hobby pottery shop. They should have all the paints and classes you need.

Yeah - I have the glazing tutorial printed out and in my Shop Notes foder in the shop. Excellent tutorial.
BUT
I want to "paint" this duck as well as some other models -- like a hand wood carver would do a lifelike painting of a hand carved lifelike bird.
I may not get the super lifelike details - but I want to know the techniques and apply at least "some" realism to the Duck.
This will be applied to a sign I am making.

If you paint the duck with solid colors to your liking you can add the glazing techniques to enhance the depth and bring out the details.

You might look at the tutorials on Laura English's carving site. www.carvingpatterns.com
here's one in particular:

Re: Painting the birds - duck
THAT is an AWESOME link. thank you.
I am trying my hand at some artist paints from an artist store.
So far I have painted the head, and base coated the body.
The oil paint takes 4-5 days to dry, before I can go over it with other layers of colors.
It will look lifelike, but it is also a huge undertaking.
I will try to post pics later
