Lithopane material?

I thought I read somewhere that people were using cheap white plastic cutting boards to make lithopanes, but I can't seem to find anything through searching these boards. Is this correct? Will a cheap dollar store cutting board work for a lithopane? I am having a hard time coming by affordable corian, and I would love to try making a lithopane.
